I'm thrilled to announce that I will be DJ'n at the Lie'brary Bar in Sioux Falls, SD several times over the next few weeks. It's a great atmosphere for the patrons and it always fills to capacity on the weekends, so be sure to get there before 10pm or be prepared to stand in line!

Always a pleasure to entertain friends!

On January 2, 2010 I made the long 13 hour drive to Grand Rapids, MI to DJ my former college roommate's wedding. It was an absolute blast and it was a great chance to see several of my best friends from college...and of course to celebrate Danny and Kristi's marriage. I played a pretty classic set of music for this event, a few cheesy songs, some oldies, and some top-40 throughout the night as well. Overall, it was a great show.

First time DJ'n at the Liebrary Bar

This past Saturday, I was given the opportunity to DJ for the first time at the The Lie'brary Bar on the SW side of Sioux Falls. A big thanks to DJ Absolute of Soulcrate Music for bringing me in.

If you haven't checked out the Lie'brary, you definitely need to as it's one of the funnest lounges in Sioux Falls. Great staff, great patrons, great music, and a great atmosphere! Not to mention it's the only place in Sioux Falls where you'll find all the DJ's mixing on vinyl turntables. I tried live-recording my set of music, but failed...but here's a link to my playlist from the night for the few of you who are interested. Hopefully I'll be back out there again in the near future and I'll be sure to record my mix properly :)

Mixing Over The Lunch Hour

During my hour long lunch break from my full time job today, I managed to eat a KFC value meal and sneak in a quick mixing session. It was fun to record a quick mix and energize myself for the rest of the work day. You can download it here - listen and enjoy!

Last month I received a random phone call from a groom (Brandon) down in Missouri who had already booked a band to play at his upcoming wedding. He had stumbled across one of my videos on my YouTube channel and said he loved the way I mixed music beat to beat. He went on to request an hour long mix that he could use at his wedding reception in between band sets. I was flattered to say the least and was happy to help him out! He provided me with a list of songs he wanted included in his mix, and this was the result! It's a live recorded Top-40 infused mix created specifically for Brandon...no editing done, just live mixing on my turntables. It's far from perfect once again, but a fun little mix to keep ya'll entertained. Download and enjoy!

Thank you Drew and Bethany!

On August 1st, 2009 I was honored to have DJ'd the wedding reception for the new Drew and Bethany Anderson. The event was held on the third floor lobby at the Washington Pavilion in Downtown Sioux Falls, SD. The event staff at the Pavilion is a fabulous and always makes my job easier there! Drew and Bethany are among my many favorite clients. All of the toasts made me laugh and Drew certainly has a lot of character...he's a tremendous economist, football player, singer, dancer, and hands down has the most analytical mindset of any client I have ever worked with!

I was happy to open up my Outlook inbox this week and find that Drew had taken the time to write a testimonial of my services. So Drew and Bethany, if you read this, Thank you so much once again! Below is what Drew wrote to me:

"Jeff, thanks a million! You made our night fun and special for everyone there. In between satisfying our (many) requests, you effortlessly entertained the crowd with your own blend of choices. Now offering live percussionists at events!

This past weekend, I DJ'd at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, IA. This event was an absolute blast and I even brought in a live percussionist to perform alongside me! Having a drummer at the event definitely offered a unique flair and style that kept the party rocking! Watch and enjoy! P.S. I normally don't wear headbands at black tie wedding receptions :)

Congratulations Craig & Kimberly Humphreys!

On Saturday August 15, 2009 I had the pleasure to DJ the wedding reception of Craig and Kim Humphreys...two of my bestest friends from college! In addition to DJ'n their beautiful wedding reception at the downtown Holiday Inn (10th floor) in Sioux Falls, they asked if I would be willing to create the slideshow for their reception. Redmond Wedding Reception in Onawa, Iowa - July 25, 2009

On Saturday I journeyed down to Onawa, IA for what turned out to be a ridiculously wild and enjoyable wedding reception! The night started off with a surprise first dance to a custom mix that I produced for them months ago - and they nailed it! A video of this dance will be posted very soon. It was definitely a memorable event and once again I want to wish Angela and Matt Redmond a happy marriage together!

The crowd for this event was definitely feeling the top-40 and hip hop - much more than the typical wedding crowd. This was a great change of pace and I was able to do much more mixing than normal. I had a great camera angle and recorded a lot of footage so I thought I would share a video that showcased the transitions between songs sequentially through the night. Beatmixing music (blending beats of two songs) really helps keep the dance floor packed as the beat stays synced but the songs are continually changing. So in essence, the dancing rarely comes to a screeching halt as awkward moments of silence between songs is avoided. There are thousands of DJ's out there who are much better at mixing than me (including one right here in Sioux Falls), but it is still rare to find a wedding DJ that beatmixes in the great state of South Dakota!

I have also been blessed to have received several unsolicited testimonials this wedding season [ By unsolicited I mean that I never directly request a testimonial as I believe the truest form of appreciation comes from clients choosing to thank me on their own...or letting me swipe posts off of my Facebook wall :) ]

605 Magazine Feature Story

I was very excited to pick up the July issue of 605 Magazine today as I was featured in an article with my good friend, Jake Hill. It's a very unique story that talks about our friendship, as Jake owns BPM DJ Productions - another Sioux Falls DJ company. The 605 Magazine article talks about our "frienemy" status, a brief history of our organizations, and the unique approach both Jake and myself take as mobile DJs.

Despite the common misconception, not all DJs are cheesy and some are true DJs that still spin, mix, and scratch vinyl for a truly unique and stylish event! You can view a PDF version of the article here, or simply pick up your issue of 605 magazine from dozens of locations throughout Sioux Falls!

Rauscher Wedding Reception at the Moose Lodge in Mitchell, SD

This past weekend I had the privilege of DJ'n the wedding reception of Jen Crang and Adam Rauscher. The event was held at the the Moose Lodge in Mitchell, SD, which features an enormous dance floor that DJ's cant help but love! All of the video clips are sequential to show the flow of the event throughout the evening. About 200 guests were there at 5pm and around 100 were still partying at 1:00am. A very long show, but could not have asked for a funner crowd or clients!
